What to expect on a retirement home tour?

​Our team of senior care professionals will guide you through a variety of apartment options and are happy to answer any questions you may have about our retirement community in Lake in the Hills.
 
We highly encourage you discuss with your family ahead of time the key factors that you look for in an assisted living and memory care community so you can bring a list of questions with you. This ensures that you can truly get the most out of your tour. You might also consider a quick online search of other communities in the area to find out what the key differentiators are and to help you better decide what community resonates with your lifestyle.
 
Of course, if you’re not quite sure what to ask, our team will certainly share as much information as possible with you before the end of your tour with us. We always welcome return visitors if you happen to come up with questions following your initial visit.

​It’s always a good idea to get your family involved in the process and now with our online virtual tour tool, they can preview the community wherever they are, so long as they have a mobile device or computer! Family knows you better than anyone else and can help you come up with questions, provide their candid feedback about the community you’re touring and make the experience all the more fun simply by doing it together.

One of the many benefits of Melody Living is that we are forward thinkers! So much so, that when we initially developed the design of our community’s building, we created a family visitation area – that has come in handy in 2020! This room has a safe setup with a partition wall, comfy seats and décor (currently holiday-festive), and a clear speaker system to allow for easy-to-hear access while connecting with visitors without risking the safety and wellness of residents and staff on the inside of the building.

​In addition to the programs, services and experienced staff, it’s important for you to like the look and feel of the community as well. Feel free to take plenty of photos to help remind you of what you liked from a community. This also becomes helpful after you’ve completed several different tours to compare each photo to the next. Take note of how you feel when you flip through each photo as this can help you clearly identify which community resonated the best with your unique lifestyle.
