National Social Wellness Month

7/19/2022

National Social Wellness Month
July is Social Wellness Month, but what is Social Wellness? Social Wellness can be defined as the ability to create and interact with a positive support system surrounding oneself, including friends, family, neighbors, and more.

To put it simply, Social Wellness encourages people to interact with others in ways that are positive to their physical, emotional, and mental health.
Social Wellness is key in ensuring a positive life experience for all ages and is part of the Eight Dimensions of Wellness that we strive to emulate at Melody Living year-round.
Personal interactions are important, but people are only one part of the scope of Social Wellness that Melody Living works to sustain. Let’s not forget the impact that our furry friends play! Pets provide companionship and they can also help us to meet new friends. Residents can bring along their furry companions and continue to share the love of animals with their neighbors at Melody Living Lake in the Hills.

Pets can help to reduce stress, lower blood pressure, and connect to social support as well as facilitate social interaction. Animals play a key role in developing and maintaining Social Wellness, which is one of the many wonderful reasons our assisted living community at Lake in the Hills is pet-friendly.
National Social Wellness Month
Not only are we a pet-friendly senior living community, we also bring in therapy and comfort dogs for our residents to embrace. Spending time with dogs has been proven to reduce anxiety and depression symptoms, reduces feelings of loneliness, and increases self-esteem.
National Social Wellness Month
Melody Living promotes Social Wellness through a multitude of other ways in our monthly calendars as well. Puzzles, baking club, bingo, Happy Hours, and group outings help to bring together not only our residents, but our staff as well.

We take great pride in creating an environment that promotes Social Wellness between our staff, residents, their friends, and family. Discover for yourself what a Life in Harmony™ is like by scheduling a tour of our community or by calling us at (847) 957-7070. You can also schedule a private tour on our contact page.
