Here at Melody Living Lake in the Hills, we cherish the unique stories and vibrant personalities of our residents. This month, we are thrilled to feature Marnee Ardito as our resident spotlight. Join us as we delve into Marnee's remarkable journey and learn more about her life. Marnee Ardito was born and raised in Franklin Park, Illinois. As a mother of three sons and two daughters-in-law, Marnee's life has been filled with love and family. Marnee’s husband served in the Army and spent most of his contract in Arizona. After her youngest son started school, Marnee pursued a career in healthcare, working as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at Lutheran General Hospital. Though Marnee wished to get her RN license, she chose to put it off to support her family. However, her passion for healthcare led her to further her education later in life, becoming a unit secretary and eventually becoming an LPN at the age of 40. Despite her busy career, Marnee has always made time for her interests and hobbies. She has a desire to learn Spanish and enjoys reading mystery books by authors like Stephen King and John Grisham. Marnee also has a fondness for collecting elephant figurines, with one of her favorites being a glass-blown elephant she was given from a restaurant in Venice, Italy.
Marnee’s favorite holiday would have to be Thanksgiving, but she says any time her family comes together is her favorite. One of Marnee's most vivid memories is hearing the news of President John F. Kennedy's assassination while working in an airline ticket office. Despite life's challenges, Marnee considers her greatest accomplishment to be having raised her three sons. Her favorite place to visit is the Science and Industry Museum in downtown Chicago, she misses bringing her kids there every summer. She has done a lot of traveling and loves Europe, but her dream destination would have to be Mexico because of how nice and welcoming the people are. Marnee says that one of her special talents is being good with people and socializing. Marnee chose Melody Living as her home because of its welcoming atmosphere and modern amenities. She appreciates the convenience of services like housekeeping and the availability of washers and dryers in the apartments. From the moment she walked in, Marnee said she felt at home at Melody Living. Marnee's advice to others is simple yet profound: "Live one day at a time."
