Celebrating National Assisted Living Week at Melody Living

​National Assisted Living Week celebrations are in full swing at Melody Living’s assisted living and memory care community in Lake in the Hills. The celebration provides a unique opportunity for residents, their loved ones, staff, volunteers, and the surrounding communities to recognize the role of assisted living in caring for America’s seniors.

This year’s theme is “Compassion, Community, Caring.” Melody Living staff kicked off the week by displaying hearts to write messages and display throughout the community. Residents also enjoyed sweet chocolate treats to celebrate National Assisted Living Week.

Several other events are planned throughout the week at Melody Living to include: Wear Your Favorite Sports Team Day, Wear a Hat Day, Ice Cream Day, and Superhero Day. The celebrations will conclude Saturday evening with s’mores on the patio. 

​National Assisted Living week was established in 1995 by the National Center for Assisted Living. “This year's National Assisted Living Week is special because of everything we have faced over the past year,” said NCAL Executive Director Scott Tittle. “Compassion, Community, Caring reflects the hard work and dedication of all the essential caregivers in assisted living communities during the COVID-19 pandemic.”
