Meet Edward Voss, a proud veteran, loving father and grandfather, and a valued member of the Melody Living Lake in the Hills community. Born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Ed’s journey has taken him far from his hometown, shaping a rich and fulfilling life that now includes the warmth and camaraderie of assisted living. We hope you enjoy getting to know more about one of our beloved residents! After graduating from Marquette University with a degree in business administration, Ed embarked on a successful career in sales. He worked as the Vice President of Sales Manager for Recording + Statistical Corp. for 15 years before retiring. In his personal life, Ed is the proud father of two boys and two girls and has six grandchildren who bring him immense joy. When asked about his greatest accomplishment, he said it has been raising four successful children who have gone on to achieve great things in their lives. Ed’s story is not only one of professional success but also of service to his country. He served in the United States Air Force, following in the footsteps of his father, who served in the Army during World War II. One of the pivotal moments in Ed’s life was on December 7, 1941, when Pearl Harbor was bombed. He was at the movie theater with his brother, and the film was paused to announce the devastating news. While Ed has many fond memories, Thanksgiving holds a special place in his heart. He cherishes the tradition of gathering with his children and family to celebrate the holiday. His late wife, an amazing cook, made every Thanksgiving a memorable occasion. For Ed, it was about the warmth of family, good food, and making lasting memories together. A natural socializer, Ed has a special talent for meeting new people and connecting with others from all walks of life. His ability to understand and relate to people has made him a beloved presence wherever he goes. Ed’s favorite place to visit is California, particularly Napa Valley's wine country. San Francisco holds a special place in his heart, too, especially for its excellent restaurants, he loved the food whenever he would visit. Choosing Melody Living Lake in the Hills was an important decision for Ed. As he knew it would eventually become harder to care for himself independently, he toured six different communities before finding the one that felt like home. His children visited a few of the top options with him, and Ed was particularly impressed with our executive director, Jillian, which solidified his choice. He felt an immediate connection with the community and knew it was the right place for him. Since joining the Melody Living family, Ed has enjoyed the many activities and amenities offered. He’s especially fond of the outings to lunch, attending daily exercise classes, and participating in the weekly wine socials with his daughter. These experiences have added to his sense of fulfillment and community, making his transition to assisted living a smooth and rewarding one. At Melody Living, we’re proud to have him as part of our community, where he continues to enjoy life to the fullest. We want to help you to discover a Life in Harmony™ like Ed has here at Melody Living.
