 Meet Melody Living Lake in the Hill's October resident of the month, Kerry Webster! We can’t wait for you to meet Kerry as we continue to welcome each new resident to their Life in Harmony™. Kerry Webster was born and raised in Manitou, Kentucky before he packed his bags for Illinois to pursue his dream of teaching. Kerry served in the Air Force and did powerplant maintenance at various missile sites for four years. After his service, Kerry graduated from college with a vocational degree, which he stated was his greatest accomplishment. He then went on to become a high school and college shop teacher specializing in teaching drafting, woodworking, and electronics. Some of his favorite hobbies include wooden puzzles, lots of reading, and of course, woodworking. Kerry says that his ability to build things is his special talent. He has tried to learn how to speak Spanish but could never quite make it stick. One of Kerry’s favorite place he’s visited so far has been New Zealand. He enjoyed the people and the different cultures. During his visit, he spent time on a sheep farm, hiked to the bottom of a volcano, and even went to a kiwi grove. Kerry has always dreamed of going to China or Japan but hasn’t made it there yet.  A pivotal moment in history that Kerry remembers is 9/11. He was eating breakfast at a local diner, on what he thought was any normal day until he saw the tragedy unfold on the diner TV. Kerry says at first, he didn’t believe it was true, or that something like that could happen, but unfortunately, it did.
Kerry’s beautiful family includes his wife, daughter, and granddaughter. He chose Melody Living to call home because he previously had a very large apartment that he shared with his wife, however, after she moved to a memory care facility he decided to downsize in order to be closer to her. Some of Kerry’s favorite activities to participate in at Melody Living Independent Living are Poker and Mexican Train Dominoes.
