Meet Art Hisel - One of our Melody Living Residents

Getting to know each of our residents at our senior living Lake in the Hills community is one of the best perks of becoming a part of our family.

​We want you to get to know them as well. This December, we are featuring our assisted living community resident, Art Hisel and a bit about his life.
 
Art was born in Bloom City, Wisconsin where he lived until he was ten years old. He then moved to Richland, Wisconsin, where he went to middle school and high school.
 
After graduating high school, Art enlisted in the Army. He has five children and seven grandchildren as well as sixteen great grandchildren. 

​Art is an Army veteran, he served for five years, ten months, and six days. After leaving the Army, he worked for Hunter Automated Machinery and was their Vice President.

He worked for the company for 42 years. Art is proud of his career as Vice President of Hunter Automated Machinery and considers it one of his greatest accomplishments.
 
Art’s favorite hobby is spending time on the green playing a round or two of golf. His special skill includes keeping up the best poker face during a game of poker.

​Art's favorite holiday is any holiday he can spend with his family, but he prefers Thanksgiving when he gets to enjoy all the delicious food. 

His favorite place to visit is Italy. Art was stationed there during peacetime in the war and has a lot of fond memories of meeting nice people. A pivotal moment in history for Art was when he was fighting to help South Korea win the war.  
 
Art chose to make Melody Living Lake in the Hills his new home because he heard great things, and he had a few acquaintances who live here.
 
What Art enjoys the most about Melody Living are the friendships he has made. He also loves going on outings with his friends and coming to social groups, and live entertainment, when offered.
 
Art’s advice to others is to “surround yourself with family, good company and have a good time while you can.”
