 Fall was filled with lively and enriching activities at Melody Living Lake in the Hills! Our community came together to enjoy a variety of events, from educational workshops and cultural experiences to festive gatherings. Here’s a recap of all the highlights from September and October, showcasing the engaging, supportive atmosphere we cherish here in Lake in the Hills. Smile Day Open Mic – Bringing Joy and Laughter to Melody Living Our Smile Day Open Mic was a delightful opportunity for residents to share stories, talents, and many laughs. The open mic session included poetry, music, and lighthearted jokes, with many residents stepping up to the microphone. From shared memories to songs, it was a day full of smiles and connection that reminded us of the power of storytelling and music, bringing people together. Senior Resource Night Our Senior Resource Night was a great success, offering residents and families a chance to learn more about valuable resources available in their community. Experts from different fields shared insights on healthcare, financial planning, community support programs, and more. The evening provided a wealth of information and left attendees feeling more empowered and prepared for the future. “Around the World” Germany Our popular “Around the World” series took us to Germany this September, with residents diving into the rich culture of this Western European country. The evening featured traditional German dishes prepared by our talented culinary team, from sausages to pretzels and sauerkraut. Accompanied by a brief presentation on German history and culture, it was a delightful evening of travel-inspired tastes and conversation. Sign Language Class Our Sign Language Class in late September was an incredible opportunity for residents to learn a new skill and enhance their communication abilities. Residents picked up basic signs for everyday conversation, deepening their understanding of a language that fosters inclusivity and connection. The event was so well-received that many expressed interest in having similar classes again in the future.  Hispanic Heritage Month During Hispanic Heritage Month, residents at Melody Living Lake in the Hills Independent Living celebrated a vibrant cultural experience that included delicious tres leches cake, flavorful Mexican rice, and savory carnitas. This special event offered an opportunity not only to enjoy authentic dishes but also to explore the rich history and contributions of Hispanic culture, fostering both appreciation and learning in a festive, welcoming atmosphere. VA Benefits Prep: What You Should Know For residents with a military background and their families, our VA Benefits Prep session provided essential information on navigating veterans’ benefits. Experts guided attendees through important details on eligibility, applications, and accessing benefits, making the process feel more accessible. The event proved to be invaluable in providing answers and resources for veterans in our community. “Around the World” Transylvania With Halloween approaching, our October “Around the World” night brought residents to the land of Transylvania! The evening featured dishes inspired by the region and an exploration of Transylvanian history and lore. From tales of medieval castles to Vlad the Impaler, residents were captivated by this spooky and intriguing culture. It was a unique experience that brought a little mystery and thrill to the season.  Marvel’ous Melody Spooktacular
Capping off October, the Marvel’ous Melody Spooktacular was a festive celebration filled with costumes, decorations, and Halloween treats. Residents, family members, and staff dressed up for the occasion, showcasing a range of fun and creative costumes. The event included spooky-themed treats, candy, a balloon artist, a magician show, and coloring activities. It was a fantastic way to embrace the spirit of the season and enjoy a memorable evening together. As we move into the holiday season, we’re excited to continue hosting a variety of events that bring joy, connection, and enrichment to our community.
